MooringBoy lists available berths wherever they are in the world. The part we play is simply to put Hosts and Guests together for their mutual benefit, so we expect to expand quickly into different regions.

MooringBoy is a one-stop online service which allows recreational sailors around the world to find and book a temporary berth. The MooringBoy website and app make it easy to search for, compare and instantly book the most suitable temporary berth at a chosen destination. On the other side of the transaction, marinas and other berth owners use MooringBoy to list the particulars and availability of their moorings, maximizing their opportunity for rental revenue. Berth owners (“Hosts”), can advertise the particulars of their Marina or property, free of charge. They can then list the details of any available mooring - what size boat it can accommodate, the pricing scheme, the exact location, the dates it is available, etc. Recreational boaters (“Guests”), looking for the perfect spot to berth overnight for for a few days, can search the site for all available berths in the region they are interested in. They can filter out those that can’t accommodate their boat, or don’t have the facilities they want, and they can compare prices, and read the reviews left on MooringBoy by other sailors. Once they find the ideal berth, they can book the time they want to stay, and pay there and then, online, by a variety of secure payment methods. This is all free of charge. MooringBoy emails all the relevant details of the transaction to the Host, and once the visit is concluded, we remit the payment directly to the Host, less a small fee. At that time, Guests are invited to leave feedback about their stay.

We expect the number of locations covered by our service to expand very rapidly, as berth owners see the advantages of attracting recreational boats in their area. So if your chosen destination doesn’t currently feature on the site, check back next time! Also, if you rent a berth that isn’t listed, suggest the owner/Marina that they list the site to make it easier in future for prospective visitors to check availability and pricing.

You’ve booked and paid already, so there’s gnerally no need for a full “check-in” at your temporary berth. At the time of booking, you will receive a receipt with your reference number, along with any specific instructions for finding your berth, and any formalities required.

The terms of each mooring on offer, including the cancellation policy, are shown clearly before you commit. As with booking hotel rooms in advance, generally one pays a slight premium for a booking with a flexible, full-refund concellation policy.

That depends on the Host. They decide the dates for which each berth is available. Guests may choose to book as many of those dates as they like.

The MooringBoy can be a very effective site for promoting the attractions and benefits of your Marina. Guests searching for a berth in your area will use the site to make their decision about where to spend their time and money, so we allow you to set up a comprehensive profile, describing your Marina in detail, along with photographs, schematic maps, etc. You also record all the different berths and mooring you may want to rent out, grouping those with identical prices and attributes (mooring type, maximum dimensions, on-quay facilities etc.) together. Our site then retains that data, so that when a particular berth becomes available for rental over a particular period, it is a very quick and simple process to add that berth to our “live” listings. Once it has been booked and paid for, it is an equally quick process to remove it from the live listings, until the next time it becomes available.

Whether you are a marina or a private berth-holder, any time your moorings are unused, it represents a lost opportunity for income. MooringBoy offers you the opportunity to list online the price, features, and availability of your berths, at whatever price you think is fair.Thousands of recreational boaters use the site to find their ideal berth, and your listing offers them the opportunity to conveniently book in advance. We also take away all the administrative costs and hassles of recording their details, taking payment, getting customer feedback, etc.

MooringBoy charges the Guest the price shown on the site, without adding any Guest fee. We remit 90% of this to the Host, retaining 10% as our commission, in return for our marketing and our administration of the transaction.

Once the transaction is completed online, we generate an automatic email to both parties, showing all the details of the transaction. The listing is also automatically updated, those specific dates now being unavailable for that berth.

For Marinas with a large number of listings we can structure the email, so that it can be used to update the Marina’s internal administrative systems automatically.

Any type of berth or mooring can be listed, providing it is suitable for boats over 7.5m long to moor overnight. We do need a detailed description of the mooring, the maximum boat dimensions, as well as a more general description of the property (with photos), and the facilities available to the Guest.

Once a berth has been booked by a Guest, we hold the payment until the agreed rental period is over, and both sides have had an opportunity to notify us of any problems or disputes. We then remit the payment (less our 10% fee) directly to the Host’s nominated bank account, within 3 days following the end of the rental period.

As an unregistered Guest, you are welcome to browse the site to find berths in the area you intend to visit. But our search engine filters the search results to exclude berths that can’t accommodate your boat. Registering on the site enables you to create a secure profile which includes all the details of your boat, so that you only need to enter then once. The profile can also store your preferences regarding Marina facilities you consider important, and any other details required to complete a booking transaction.
